Another Appointment

Yesterday, James and I went for my 22 week doctor's appointment. Everything went fine. We heard the babies heartbeat and that was it. I think I was seen for a total of 5 minutes.

Movement :-)

I am laying on the couch and I feel a little something. I call James over to feel my stomach and he feels it too. Little Kicker is moving around and I'm really feeling him. For the next couple of days I really begin to feel him moving around. God is awesome in his infinite wisdom of how human being are designed.

It's a ...

Today James and I went for our 20 week ultrasound. Never in my life have I had to go to the bathroom so badly (you cannot go to the bathroom prior to an ultrasound). So, I get all hooked up and there is Baby Coursey. As soon as the machine is turned on, there is the baby staring up at us. We saw the baby moving it's arms, legs, and just moving in general. All of a sudden we got a little surprise. The baby opened HIS legs. The technician saw a sack and his penis. I wanted to know for sure so we looked over and over. Occasionally, the baby would open his hands and open his mouth. He is so cute! At this time, the baby is 12 oz . The babies heart was beating rapidly. He had a heart rate of 142. That is fairly normal. The normal range is from 120 to 160. It is so tiny but it's amazing. I was so nervous, but God is good and our little one is progressing nicely.

Kicker

Our third doctor's appointment went smoothly except "Kicker" keeps moving every time the doctor tries to hear the heart beat. Dr. Adolfo pressed and moved the Doppler, but could only get small glimpses of the heartbeat. Every time she would hear the heartbeat the baby (now referred to as Kicker) would kick or move away. We must have sat there for 10 minutes before she could isolate "Kicker". She kept saying your baby is a real mover. I kept telling her "Kicker" doesn't like all the poking.

I Feel It

As an expectant mother, you never know what is happening inside your body. I'm about 17 weeks and everything James and I read state that we should be feeling the baby kick and move around any where from 16 to 20 weeks. So, I think I've been feeling something. This morning James attempted to feel what I'm feeling. AND HE DID!!! He felt our little one do something. We were both excited.

The Beat Goes On...

This has been an extremely long month since my last doctor's appointment. I have been worried that we make it to this one and hear the heartbeat. James and I arrived at my doctors and nerves were at their peak for both of us. I graded tests while I waited to keep myself from worrying. When we were called back, the doctor got right to work. The baby was where it should have been in my stomach, and then came the Doppler. A Doppler is a machine used for expectant parents to hear their baby's heartbeat. As soon as she put the machine on my belly we heard whoosh whoosh whoosh (the heartbeat). I had my eyes closed because I couldn't take it. She felt around some more ( to make sure there were no more in there). James wanted to hear it again, so she found the baby and we heard the whoosh whoosh whoosh again. While we were listening, we heard a thud. I guess the baby did not like the fact that someone was feeling around, because the doctor said the thud was the baby kicking.
When we left the office, I gave James the biggest hug and we just Thanked God for the blessing growing inside of me.

Upset Stomach

This morning is the first day I threw up. After I left the gym, I was on my way to my Mom's house and I did not feel so good. I decided to try to eat a little something, but that did not work. Next thing I knew I'm on the side of the road throwing up. How yummy!

Finally

Today was my first day not taking my medicine. I started to think I was normal. The baby should be growing nicely, but the doctor said at this point the placenta takes over producing progesterone, therefore the medicine is not needed.

James' First Ultrasound

Today, James decided to go with me to my doctor's appointment. I think he went with me because I was so nervous and fearful. The entire night before I just prayed and remembered what all I have to be thankful for. When we got to the doctors office, James got to meet the doctor and nurses and see how nice they all are. As the doctor got ready for the ultrasound, I prepared myself. That is when I heard James say WOW! The baby has grown so much. As I started to laugh, it was like the baby woke up and began to move around. He/she decided to give us a little show today. James was such a proud papa. I'm so glad he came with me today. At nine weeks, we are moving right along.

Little Heartbeat

Today, I could actually see a little heartbeat and a small head. The baby is very small, but everything is developing correctly. I am 7 weeks, 5 days which suprised me, but I'll take it. I was so excited to show James the picture of how much our baby has changed. Next appointment in 2 weeks.

My first ultrasound

I had my first ultasound today. The doctor just wanted to make sure everything was progressing normally. Of course I was so nervous, but thanks be to God everything was normal. All I really saw was the sac, but that gave me some piece of mind.

WOW!!!

God has truly blessed us today. After visiting the doctor, this morning I went out to lunch with a close friend. During lunch I received the normal phone call with all my levels and the news came! We're pregnant! I couldn't tell Chrissy, because of course James had to be the first to know. I was so excited to call him and let him know. This time, we are choosing to keep this our little secret for a while. We are overwhelmed by God's blessing at this time.
