Jimmy tried to feed himself today in his high chair. I was excited because he puts everything else in his mouth except the food I want him to.

Merry Christmas
This was one of the most memorable Christmas' because it was James Jr's first. We woke up in the morning and we had cheese eggs and bacon (which meant none for James Ryan). After breakfast we opened up our presents. It was interesting that Jimmy knew exactly what to do when he opened his presents. He loves to play and knew that his toys meant play with me. When we were finished opening our presents Jimmy and I got dressed and went down stairs to video conference with his Nana in Germany. We traveled outside the house to visit Aunt Dee, Poppi and Tonisha. Jimmy unwrapped his presents there, while his daddy played Wii with Poppi. We had dinner and my mom's house where Jimmy ate a little baked sweet potato 30 minutes out of the oven. He neither liked nor disliked the sweet potatoes. He finished his first Christmas going from family member to family member. We did not leave my mom's until around 11:30 and Jimmy was still up. What a great day!

No sleep
So, since we stay at my mom's house on Christmas Eve, Jimmy went to bed with me. Well, by the time James came up, he just stayed in the bed with me. This little boy woke up so many times, I was exhausted. He moves so much in his sleep, it's crazy. Gotta love him though when he wakes up and give you that big old smile. :-)

Cracker
At the birthday celebration for James, my cousin Cherie tried to braid Jimmy's hair. He started crying because he hates getting his hair done. It was so funny, because when James heard him crying he got up so fast. Then later that evening my same cousin gave him a cracker to eat and of course he ate it. James and I gave him some cake icing, and he loved it. Jimmy gave his father a portable radio that he could plug his Ipod into.

DADA
So, I was trying to get James to say dada after he ate dinner tonight. He kept looking at me make the words with my mouth and then all of a sudden I hear dada. I asked James if I was hearing correctly and I think I was because for the next hour we kept hearing him talk and say dada. I was so excited I wanted to scream, but I knew it would scare him.

Up the steps
After going to Kohls to do some black Friday shopping Jimmy and I went to my mom's for lunch. At mom's we decides I'm going to follow the adults into the kitchen. I sit by the step and here he comes. He climbs up one step from the family room to the kitchen. Oh my how big we are getting.

Thanksgiving
James had his first Thanksgiving. He wore the cutest onesie that said baby's 1st Thanksgiving. He had for dinner mac and cheese, sweet corn casserole and applesauce for dinner. Of course this was all baby food. He was a good baby and showed everyone his crawling skills and how well he likes to eat!!!!

Stand Up Stand Up
I go down to put James' laundry in the washer and I hear a noise. I quickly come upstairs to see what he is up to. He is in his crib smiling at me when I enter his room. He is on his hands and knees and I'm elated because he is holding on to the rail of his crib. I run and get the video camera and as soon as I turn it on he stands up! I was super excited especially since I got it on video.
Later in the evening mom and James are in his room talking and he decides he want to peek over his crib. He gets on his knees and peeks out of the crib to be apart of the conversation. Everyone thought it was so cute!!!

Sesame Street
Today was the first day James watched a little TV. Mom was getting dressed and needed to occupy this curious little boy, so she put on Sesame Street and he watched about 10 minutes of TV. Oh no!!! I didn't mind it too much although he watches no TV at home, he just hears the voices when we watching something.
Goodnight ???
Last night James is reading to the baby. He begins to read our normal bible story and Jimmy starts to fuss. So, James decides to read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Now when Jimmy was about 2 months old he would fall asleep when James would read him this. Well, not anymore. Jimmy was fussy and would not focus. James then read him his normal bedtime story Goodnight Moon. Jimmy did not say a peep. James switch back to Dr. Seuss and Jimmy started to get fussy again. How ironic this 6 1/2 month old knows exactly what books he wants to read. Hey, I'm just glad he wants to read something.

Teething
What a big boy Jimmy is becoming! I do not understand though why he is refusing a bottle at times. yesterday again he refused to take a bottle. He had a total of 2 ounces ALL day. So, I fed him when I picked him up and then again at home. I called the doctor's office and the nurse said he is probably teething badly and for us to give him Tylenol or Motrin (I would hate to give him Motrin). I think though I can see the teeth coming in!

Church ALL Day
James was such a great boy today. He went to two chruch services and was pretty good at the second (he began to want to talk). He slept on the way home and I jsut had to let him on the floor to play for the remainder of the evening becuase he was so bound up all day I wanted him to get loose.

360
James and I were playing with the baby on the floor and trying to get him to crawl. So he reaches out for a toy and cannot get it so what does he decide to do. He decides to do 360s on the ground continuing to turn himself around until he somehow reaches the toy. Amazing to watch.

No Bottle For Me!!!
James decided for 3 days he would not drink from a bottle. On Monday, mom told he he refused to drink. Okay I accepted that and moved on. Tuesday I was home with him because of election day (no school) and tried to give him a bottle, but I thought he would not take it because it was me. Wednesday, back at mom's and again no bottle. I took him to the doctor because I thought he might be dehydrated but everything was okay. Thursday, he finally took a bottle. I guess he thought that my milk was sufficient.

6 month apt
James went for his 6 month doctors well visit and he did very well. He now weighs 16.2 oz(25.11%), his height is 26 1/2 inches (44.33%), and his head circumference is 17 inches (33.80%). He cried after the first shot and I felt so bad for him. He looked at James and I like " please help me!" The doctor wanted him to get his flu shot today and James and I both said no. That is just way too many shots at one time. I have an appointment for Saturday to get it done. I stood my ground although he really tried to force me to get it done.

6 Months Old
James Ryan was six months old today. This morning while giving him his breakfast, I sang to him "Happy 1/2 birthday to you, Happy 1/2 birthday to you, Happy 1/2 birthday to you, Happy 1/2 birthday to you." James said he never heard of that that before. Well, I have so I sung the song to celebrate his 1/2 birthday. Today he went to two church services, where he fell asleep in both. He was such a good boy today. He played in his exersaucer and showed his mom-mom how he spits bubbles. At Zion, he watched a little girl play and as one lady stated he looked like he wanted to join in the fun. James sat on the church pew and played with his toy for about 5 minutes. Hey the attention span of a child is supposed to be equivalent to their age so 5 minutes is plenty. He wrapped up his evening with dinner at IHop although of course he did not eat (I would never feed him table food at this age).
As you can tell by the photos while at IHop James was playing with the paper place mates. He loves paper!

Balloon
Sixers
Last night we took Jimmy to his first 76ers game. As soon as he walked into the arena he was looking around. We sat in the 108 section, which were great seats! Everyone around us stated how adorable Jimmy was. He wore his 76ers outfit, minus the hat. I don't know what it is about hats, but I think he has way too much hair for most hats that come with the babies clothes. He was excellent during the game. As a matter of fact he did not fall asleep until 3 mintues left into the game. I'm so happy a last minute decision was a great one!!!

Pictures

So, I finally got James some professional pictures. He was such a good boy. We had to wait at Target for someone to go in front of us, but it did not take too long. The photographer was able to get him to smile and everything (what a project). I'm so relieved that he did not take a bunch of pictures looking like a dear in the headlights.

Sitting
I'm not sure if I would say James could sit by himself for a long period of time, but tonight I was playing on the floor with him and he sat for a couple of minutes. I was so proud of him. I was getting a little worried because he should have been starting to sit unassisted at this time. He is after all a couple of days from being 6 months.

Chicken Broth
I tried to give James chicken and chicken broth stage 1 baby food. He did not like it. He made face like "what is this."
Day Out
Yesterday, we did a ton of running around. We started the morning out planning on going and getting me a new phone, but I realized that my wallet was in James' car and he was at the gym, so that plan was out. Then we got ready to go to our Women's Ministry meeting. I picked up mom and we headed over to Yeadon. Since we were out in Delaware County, we stopped by my brothers house to see my nephew. It is so funny every time Jimmy see Israel he just stares at him. Yesterday we were trying to take a picture of the two of them and Jimmy starts touching Israel's hair. I was like oh no. So, while we were at Shawn and Peaches house, Peaches asked me how much does he weigh? I said probably around 16 lbs. She weighed him on her baby scale and he weighed 16 lbs 10 oz. Oh my he is growing so nicely!!!

Zoo Again
Today, I decided since James was off and it was a nice day we should do something. We were orginally going to go to the Please Touch Museum, but since the H1N1 Virus is about and kids are so sick I didn't want to take Jimmy. He puts everything in his mouth and how can you take him to a place to touch everything and limit his touching. So, needless to say we took him to the zoo. He loved it. He stared at this jaquer and watched him pace back and forth. It was wonderful for his development!

My little reader
So, I'm trying to get James' food ready and needed something to entertain him with while I heated up his food. Oh by the way James hates his food cold! So, I was reading him a book before dinner and left it on his high chair tray. He decided that it is his turn to read. He plumages through the pages trying to read the book. It was amazing how engaged he was in this book. I love it.

Constipation 101
James and I go to put the baby to bed and he starts to cry. Well this is normal so I proceed to let him cry. All of a sudden I turn to James and say he sounds like he is in pain. So, I go get him calm him down and lay him back down. He then starts to cry again. I ignore him and go get the laundry out of the dryer. James decided to go in and check on him and noticed that he was straining to go to the bathroom. As James changed him we noticed his poop was very hard and when we wiped him he cried even more. That is when I said he is constipated and I need to go get some prunes. Off to Genuardies I went. When I came home with the prunes he tore them up! 5 minutes later James could here him farting!!! Lovely sounds. He went right to sleep and off to dreamland.

Crawl
We were at my mom's house to just hang out with her. James was on the floor and all of a sudden he lifts his butt up and starts to crawl. He did not crawl a lot, but he made great strides tonight. I started screaming while on the floor with him. He looked at me like "what is all that noise about!"

Don't cover me up!
This morning I was dropping James off at my mom's and he fell asleep in the car on the way over. I grab his diaper bag, bottles and then James and proceed in the house. Well as everyone knows this morning at 7:00 it was about 40 degrees out. Being the smart mom that I am I decided to cover his face with the blanket. Well, he did not like that and all of a sudden started to cry. I said to myself "I thought you were sleep." We went in mom's house, I took him up stairs where he cuddled up next to my mom in bed and was happy as a lamb!

Dedication

Jimmy was dedicated on October 4, 2009 back to God. We pray that God continues to keep and bless him. he was dedicated at Philadelphia Bible Fellowship surrounded by family and friends. We had the fellowship afterwards at his grandmother's house were we ate good food and the children played. Of course Jimmy was just trying to crawl. He looks so handsome.
The day went so well, I just thank God. We dressed him in a suit at mom's house (we spent the night there) so he would not mess up his dedication outfit. He later got dressed at the church and fell asleep prior to the ceremony. Family and friends came out to support and he didn't make a sound. After the ceremony he sat in church with various family members and just showed how well behaved he is. We had the celebration at my mom's house and ate like we never have before! It was wonderful. Thanks Aunt Jo for the mac and cheese! All the grandchildren were present for Jimmy's big day. I LOVE IT!!!

Food
Now the fun beginnings. James had his first real food ( if you consider oatmeal cereal watered down with breat milk food) tonight. He was looking at it like "what is this." I think he was thinking this does not taste as well as food smells. He ended up wearing more than he eats.
The first picture is him with his second meal! Oatmeal again the food of champions!

Ocean AGAIN
Jimmy was in the ocean again. I think this is the third time he was in the ocean this summer and the third beach he was on. I think he was thinking what is this gritty stuff. The water was so warm that James sat down on the beach and watched the waves roll in with Jimmy in his lap. At one point a big wave came in and got Jimmy a little in the face. He was not too happy, but still did not cry. I could have stayed on the beach all day. We went back to the hotel, because Jimmy was tired and we didn't have any real shade for him. For those of you who don't know you cannot use sunblock until 6 months of age and he is only 4 1/2. We also left because my three year old nephew was scared to get in the ocean because there are sharks in the water. To be young an innocent. Once at the hotel we went to the pool where Jimmy ate and fell asleep. What a life!
