Induction

Today, James and I are going in for an induction. We had to be at Doylestown Hospital at 8:30 am. I knew I probably would not be able to eat for a while, so I decided that it would be a good idea to have a good breakfast. James and I stopped off at IHOP for a good meal prior to going to the hospital. Once we arrived at the hospital I changed into hospital gear and waited for my doctor to arrive. Around 10:30 am Dr. Adofo began the medication that would help me go into labor. James and I played cards, watched tv and slept waiting the 12 hours until I would find out if I dialated any. Around 10:30 pm I found out I was barely 1 cm. I was then given some medicine to help me dialate. Then the contractions started and now I know what contractions feel like (bad cramps). Around 4:00 am (or so) the next morning I was given an epidural for the pain. I was so scared and James or mom could not be in the room. I just prayed as the nurse held my hand and talked me through the contractions I was having and the epidural. As I was sleeping (or trying to sleep) the nurses would come in and move me from side to center to the other side. The reason why is because as my contractions grew closer, James' heartbeat would drop and then come back up. Around 6:30 am I was told I am only 4 cm and the baby is in distress when I contract, so I am going to have to have a c-section. James quickly got dressed as they began to prep me. Mom could not go in and I know all she was doing was praying! Well, God is good because I heard my doctor say time check 6:53 and the next thing I heard at 6:58 was James crying!

40 weeks

40 weeks pregnant today and nothing. I think I've had some contractions last night, but no where near where we need to be. As you can see I'm quite large and still more growing yet.

50%

Okay so the only news at this doctors appointment is that I'm 50% effaced and 0 cm dialated. Oh well we talked about what we are going to do from here because on Saturday I will be 40 weeks. I have my last and final appointment next Wednesday and I think if I'm not dialated enough then we will go in the next day for an induction. James and I continue to pray that he will come naturally. We are so excited to see him, but I guess he is stubborn like me and has the patience of his father!

Daddy's back

This morning as I was attempting to get out of bed to go to the gym (by the way I never made it), and decided just lay here for 2 more minutes. My belly was against James' back. It probably was there because it's so large now! Well I guess the baby decided he didn't like daddy's back on my stomach (or on him) so he started to kick him. James woke up saying "little man why you kicking me." We both laughed as he continued to kick James right in the back.

Beautiful Day!

Today was such a nice day. I had a track meet (yes, I'm 39 weeks pregnant and still coaching) and it was nice sitting in 70 degree weather. I didn't stay at the meet too long, because James and I had plans to spend some quality time together on such a nice day. Originally, we were going to go to Kelly Drive, but with the Phillies game we decided not to, so we just went out to lunch and got some ice cream. James played basketball in the afternoon with friends while I took a much needed nap! They are really keeping my energy up. In the evening we went to the movies with mom and saw State of Play. It was good! I told James this will probably be our last movie prior to the baby coming. One more week to go!

O

So, another week and nothing. I mean nada! We are still at 0 cm dialated. Dr. Adolfo says not to worry because we still have another week. I am ready to go and I look like I'm going to pop!

Bags Packed

Since I think I've felt some contractions, I began to pack my bags. I laid everything out on the table and am ready to just stick it in the bag. The baby's bag is packed and ready to go! I am ready to GO!!!

Active

Today, you would have never thought we are at the hospital last night. 'Kicker' is really moving today, which of course means I go to the bathroom every 10 minutes. I cannot wait to see him!

Movement

Every night when I go to bed, I can feel 'Kicker' moving. Well tonight James and I barely felt him moving. This was even after I had Rita's Water Ice. So, James and I debated for a while and then he called Dr. Adolfo. She called us back and told us to go to the emergency room. We probably should have gone to Doylestown Hospital, but I did not feel like making the 20 minute drive when Abington was 2 minutes away. Plus, James and I really felt everything was okay, but wanted to be cautious. Well everything was fine his heartbeat was around 140 (anything from 120-180 is okay). As a matter of fact while I was attached to the machines I had some contractions. I didn't even feel them so I guess I'll be able to tolerate some pain! The nurses were really nice and we were relieved everything was fine. He was kicking while we were there and I will pay careful attention tomorrow.

Easter

Boy did we get down on some food! After mom and I cooked and got all the food out, we had a lovely dinner. James (husband), James (brother), Jay, Imani, Shawn, Mom and I sat down for a nice family dinner. They guys played football while Jay tried to play, but at 3 what does he know. Imani ,Mom and I walked around outside looking at flowers and admiring the day. It was a nice peaceful celebration of Jesus' Resurrection.

Cut

Trying to make dinner has never been too difficult for me, but this night, while cutting an onion, I let out a hug scream. James comes running to see what was the matter and all I'm doing is running my thumb under water. I had cut my thumb trying to prepare for Easter dinner. James made me sit down and he took care of the green beans.

Spin the night

James and I decided to spin the night at mos house along with Jay and Imani. Well everything was fine until the middle of the night when both kids decided that they no longer wanted to sleep. The next morning I said to James this is going to be us soon. 2 more weeks and that is it.

Expect the unexpected

Mom came with me to todays doctors appointment, because I did not think that James was going to be able to make it. Well he did, so we were one happy family. Prior to the doctor coming in, we took bets on how dialated I would be. I guess 1, James guessed 2 cm, and mom guess 0. Well mom one, another week and nothing. My cervix is softening and that is about it. He is still very active and he is not quite in the birth canal. Dr. Adolfo said that he is still trying to make up his mind as to what position he wants to take.

Back pain

My back has really been bothering me, so I am really looking forward to having this week off. It is spring break for me and James may be off some days as well , so we will be able to spend some time together and get ready for the baby. Hopefully, this week off will allow my back to heal some (along with my exercises) so I can make it the last two weeks of work.

Maybe

When we went to our doctors appointment, I was thinking maybe I would be dialated, maybe not. Well obviously I was not. Another 5 minute doctors appointment and nothing. Well I still have 3 and a half weeks so hopefully next week we will see improvement.
